Girando is promoted by Associação Descalçada and is part of the Roda Viva project. All phases of the festival will be developed in a collaborative and participatory way, involving the local community and a wide network of partners. This project promotes the debate on urban space through audiovisual arts, inviting international filmmakers, academics and professionals to present films with the theme of how bicycles collaborate for the reappropriation of the city and how these sustainable mobilities redesign territories, configure identities and bring together inhabitants with their living space.
This festival will take place on an itinerant basis in outdoor spaces as well as indoors. It is intended to combine the audiovisual production of the international selection with audiovisual material produced locally (with the support of the festival director) by residents on the themes of the project.
The Roda Viva Project is funded through the BIP/ZIP 2021 program (Lisbon City Council). It is organized by a consortium of social agents: Associação Descalçada, Rés do Chão 119 Association, Rimas aos Minuto, CeiED-COFAC/Universidade Lusófona, Parish Council of Marvila and Grupo Recreativo Janz e Associados.
